Obituary

Andrew P. Smith, of Cochecton, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Garnet Health Medical Center. He was 70.

Born on June 15, 1955, in Callicoon, NY, Andrew was the son of the late Franklyn Smith and Marie Kiegler.

Andrew spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator. He was employed by a logging company and drove truck for Redard Excavating. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

In his younger days, Andrew enjoyed hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him peace and happiness. He was a devoted fan of football, especially the San Francisco 49ers, and could often be found relaxing while watching old Western television shows. Andrew was a laid-back, easygoing man who took life as it came. Above all, he cherished time with his family. When his children were young, he was actively involved in their lives, whether playing catch or cheering them on in their activities.

Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Smith; his sons, Jeremy Smith and Douglas Smith; and his daughter, Megan Curry and her husband, James. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Katelynn, and Madison; his brother, Matthew Smith and his wife, Dena; and his nephew, Albert Smith and niece Heather Dobell.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marlene Dobell, and his brother, Franklyn Smith.

Services were held privately at the convenience of the family.
