Anna Baez passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on April 25, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born in Puerto Rico to Ramon Baez and Chelia Hernandez.

Anna spent part of her life in the Bronx before finding her home and community at Crystal Run Village-now known as ADAPT-in 1985. It was there that she truly flourished, building meaningful connections and becoming a beloved presence to all who knew her.

Anna had a special love for dressing up and adored the color green. She found happiness in life's simple, beautiful moments-singing her favorite songs, coloring, participating in activities, and enjoying outings with friends. Her time at her day program brought her great joy, and her enthusiasm was truly contagious. Anna's gentle and loving nature, along with her remarkable ability to make others feel seen, valued, and cared for, left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed by her chosen family at Varnell, including her housemates and devoted staff, as well as her many friends at ARC and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Anna's spirit, kindness, and bright personality leave behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30th at from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM at Colonial Memorial Funeral Homes, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Woodbourne Cemetery.

Anna Banana, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. We hope you are at peace-drinking chocolate milk, enjoying cookies, and listening to your beloved Beatles on repeat. Enjoy paradise.
