Beatrice Rebecca Schoch, of Mongaup Valley, NY, passed away on Thursday October 18, 2012 in Bradley, Illinois. She was 89 years of age.

The daughter of the late Fred E. and Cecelia V. Whitlock Wood, she was born on August 27, 1923 in Mongaup Valley, NY.

Beatrice was a registered nurse and she was active in community affairs. She was a member of Mongaup Valley United Methodist Church where she was a licensed lay speaker. She belonged to Monticello American Legion Post #73 Ladies Auxiliary where she initiated scholarships and the Sullivan County Historical Society where she initiated the Christmas tree displays. She also served as the Town of Bethel Historian, compiling hundreds of photos and histories. In 2003, she was given the Sullivan County Historical Society Award.

Survivors include her daughter, Wilhelmina "Mimi" Meads of Boubonnais, IL; three grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and Nathaniel Meads and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Fred G. Schoch in 1998 and by her son Robert Schoch in 2008.

Visiting hours will be on Friday October 26, 2012 from 4 - 8 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 RT 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 27 at 11 AM at Mongaup Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Yerkes officiating. Burial will take place at Van Keuren Family Cemetery in Swan Lake, NY following the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mongaup Valley United Methodist Church, RT 17B, Mongaup Valley, NY 12762.
