Benjamin J. Musso, of Grahamsville, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87 and surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of the late Frank and Anna Musso, born on March 10, 1929 in New York City. He proudly served our country in the US Army, during the Korean War, and retired as a Warrant Officer from the Army Reserves after 40 years.
Benjamin moved to the area during the construction of the reservoir system. He followed in his father’s footsteps, working for the NYC Water Supply as a Civil Engineer. As a very active member of his community, he ushered for the Church of the Immaculate Conception, was a founding member of the Grahamsville Ambulance Corp. and a member of the Grahamsville Lions Club. He was always available to lend a hand including as a leader for the local boy scouts. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Michael Musso and his wife Margaret of Andover, MA, Matthew Musso and his wife Mary of Latham, NY, Andrew Musso and his wife Maura of New Paltz, NY, Mary Elizabeth Musso of Albany, NY, Patricia Copertino and her significant other John Olsen of Holbrook, NY, and Joseph Stubits of Port Orange, Fl. Additionally his grandchildren: Justin & Jenna Stubits, and Steven, Ryan, Jackie, Samantha and Zachary Musso. He is predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Rita Forrisi Musso, and wife of 23 years, Ella Stubits Musso.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Benjamin’s name can be made to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, PO Box 66, Woodbourne, NY 12788 or Grahamsville First Aid Squad, PO Box 152, Grahamsville, NY 12740.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 3 to 7pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, 10:00 AM, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 6317 NY-42, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Interment to follow at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.
