Caroline M. Vance, a longtime area resident, passed away on Tuesday July 9, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was 66. The daughter of the late Walter John and Josephine Augusta Strasser Bauer, she was born on August 30, 1946 on Long Island, NY.
Caroline was a longtime employee for Sullivan County Department of Social Services. She was a very active and dedicated church clerk and member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Ferndale, NY. She was also a member and Past President of the Russell D. Sprague Post 109 of the American Legion in Liberty, NY.
She was married to the late Robert J. Vance Jr. and leaves behind her daughter, Brenda M. Bauer and her companion Samuel Sanders Jr. of White Sulphur Springs, NY; two granddaughters, Jessica Sylvester of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Caroline Sylvester of Brooklyn, NY; a grandson, Ronald Ford Jr. of Ridley, PA; four great-grandchildren, Justyce Oquendo, Alexus Parisella, Aryonna Ford and Isiah Ford; a brother, Arthur Bauer(Brandy) of Oklahoma; a sister, Christine (Peter) Kaim of Florida; one aunt, cousins, in-laws and the Vance family's best friend Patricia Ausustine of White Sulphur Springs, NY.
Calling hours will be on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 10 AM to Noon at the Friendship Baptist Church in Ferndale. Funeral services will be at Noon with Pastor Harry Brown officiating.
Burial will take place immediately following the services at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty, NY.
