Charles Hendrickson of Cochecton passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Care center at Sunset Lake. He was 67.
He was the son of the late Cecil Hendrickson and Shirley Dauch born on December 27, 1956, in Monticello, NY.
Charles was a man of many talents, known for his work ethic and his dedication to those he loved. His heart was as big as his skill set, and he always went out of his way to help others, whether it was offering his expertise as a mechanic and making sure everyone had what they needed.
Charles spent much of his life honing his skills as a mechanic, becoming a true jack-of-all-trades. He was a hard-working, devoted professional who took great pride in his craft, often working long hours to provide for his family and dedicating the last 25 years to Sullivan Structures in Cochecton, NY where he worked. Charles was a workaholic, but his dedication to his loved ones was always his top priority.
Charles deeply loved all his grandchildren, spending as much time he could with them, in the last few years, due to not working, he developed a special bond with his “buddy”, grandson Charlie. He cherished their time together, and watching his son, Charles, racing cars brought him immense joy. Charles was enthusiastic about motorcycles and his prized 1970 Roadrunner muscle car, which he lovingly restored and maintained over the years.
Above all, Charles was a loving husband to his wife, spoiling her with his affection and unwavering support. He also had a special place in his heart for his pets, a true animal lover; his dogs, cats, rabbits and chickens; especially his dog Leo, who brought him much comfort and companionship.
Charles was always eager to please others, with a kind and generous spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He looked forward to his upcoming retirement, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to help his son, Charlie, with his scrap yard business. He was excited to spend more time with his family and continue doing what he loved.
Charles is survived by his wife, Denise, his children, Charles Hendrickson Jr., Shelia Hendrickson, Jamie Hendrickson, Cyndi Morales, Fred Morales and Erick Gonzalas, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one sister Cindy Babcock, and several aunts, cousins and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Hendrickson.
Charles’ legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, his work, and the love he gave to those around him.
A celebration of Charles' life will be held on his birthday, December 27th, with more details of location and time to be determined.
