Clarence Gandy Jr., a 50-year resident of the area, went to be with the Lord on Friday November 8, 2013 at the Sullivan County Adult care Center in Liberty, NY. He was 73.
He was born on August 31, 1940 in Bay Minette, Alabama to the late Clarence Frye and Evie O Gandy. Clarence was a retired custodian for Monticello Central Schools and he was a member of the Bethlehem Temple Church in Monticello, NY.
Survivors include his former wife, Ernestine Gandy Hackett of Monticello; sons, Rodney Holman and wife Charlotte of Monticello, Clarence Lamont Gandy and Troy D. Gandy, both of Liberty; daughters, Doreen Turner of Liberty, Deborah Gandy of Monticello, Beverly Gandy of Stamford, CT, Karin Gandy of Monticello and Tiffany Williams of Syracuse; 18 Grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. He is also survived by his special friends who helped with his care during his illness; Aunt Mattie Dawson, Joe Smith, Shannon Turner, Rufus Hackett Jr. and Elder James Hinton.
Visiting hours will be on Friday November 15 from 10 AM to Noon at Bethlehem Temple Church, Fairground Rd. Monticello. Funeral services will be at Noon with Bishop Mervin Armstead officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Liberty Cemetery, Cold spring Rd. Liberty, NY.
