Derrick McAdoo

Derrick Shawn McAdoo, affectionately known as "Qaadir," departed this life on December 12, 2025, at the age of 54, surrounded by family.

Born on July 22, 1971, Derrick grew up between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and South Fallsburg, New York, and attended schools in both the Philadelphia School District and the Fallsburg Central School District. He proudly represented Philadelphia and carried its spirit, culture, and pride with him wherever he went.

Derrick was exceptionally intelligent, with a remarkable memory and deep knowledge of his family history. You could not beat him at a game of Scrabble. He loved basketball, poetry, and had a rare gift for making people laugh all day.

A true artist, Derrick created Q Skrilla Designs and Shake Out Entertainment ("Cut Us In or Cut It Out"). Despite his lifestyle, he kept his morals and deeply loved his family-especially his wife, Quisha, who he proudly spoke of often.

He leaves to cherish his memory his longtime partner, LaQuisha Samuel; stepfather, Robert Gibbs Sr.; sisters, Mone Gibbs and Verlie Gibson; brother, Robert Gibbs Jr.; cousin/sister, Lisa McAdoo; nephews, Supreme, Amari, and Cashmere; and nieces, Chynna and Avianna.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane McAdoo; father, Robert Stubbs; grandmother, Ernestine McAdoo; great-grandmother, Eunice Anderson; aunt, Deborah Williams; uncle, Larry McAdoo; and cousin, Xaviera McAdoo.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 11:00am-1:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00pm.
