Botsford, of Loch Sheldrake, a devoted family man and avid walker, followed our Father home, and is now watching over the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Joanne, after he passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.He was the son of the late John Botsford and Grace Vanderhayden, born on December 21, 1938 in Stamford, CT.Donald proudly served our country in the US Army from 1961 to 1962. For most of his life, he worked as a truck driver, driving a tractor trailer. After he retired he went to work for Wal-Mart as a greeter. In his free time, he enjoyed getting some fresh air walking. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, he will be deeply missed.He is survived by his children: Donald Jr. of Fallsburg, Edward, at home, and Mark Botsford of Loch Sheldrake and Lynda Vega and her husband, William of Loch Sheldrake; his grandchildren: Stephen Merchant, Christopher Merchant and his wife, Nicole, Elizabeth and Brandi Merchant, and Thomas Botsford; his great-grandchildren: Alexandria Entenmann, Oliver and Corlin Merchant; his siblings: John, Susan and Diane Botsford; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one brother, Edward Botsford.Donations in Donald's name can be directed to his wife Joanne Botsford, P.O. Box 130, Ferndale, NY 12734.Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29th at 12pm at the funeral home.
