Donald Miele

October 16, 1943 — November 1, 2025

Donald D. Miele, 82, of Liberty, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2025 with his wife by his side. He was the son of the late Louis Miele and Ann Palumbo and was born on October 16, 1943, in Medford, MA.

Donald proudly served as a firefighter with the Holyoke Fire Department, dedicating many years to protecting his community. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending his free time playing golf with his good friend Bob, boating on the Connecticut River, and restoring antique cars. A 1940 Buick, the former general staff car of Westover Air Force Base, was one of his favorite restorations and a source of great pride.

Donald was exceptionally handy and had a natural talent for rebuilding and making anything look new again. He loved good food-especially Italian cuisine-and found joy in camping trips to Cape Cod in his RV. In later years, he and his wife planned to enjoy winters as snowbirds in Florida.

He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and spent time renovating properties in Holyoke.

Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Ellen M. Miele; his sons, Anthony Miele and Kevin Miele and his wife Jennifer; and his daughter, Lisa Yager and her husband Andrew. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Adriana, Anthony, Rafaeal, Haven, Danielle, Julia, and Megan; his great-grandson Wesley; and his siblings Anthony, Roseanne, Joseph and his wife Lois, and Edward and his wife Theresa. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
