Doris M. Jenkins, of Monticello, went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 14, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 78.
Born on February 25, 1935 in Sweetwater, AL, she was the daughter of Grady and Susie Hudson Blackmon. She graduated from Marengo High School and attended Stillman College. She had worked as an LPN for 18 years at New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake, NY.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Wilmot Jenkins at home; three children, Reginald Horace and Felicia Horace of Monticello, NY and Shawn Horace of Sweetwater, AL; her stepmother, Dora Blackmon of Sweetwater, AL; nine siblings, Lee( Bobbie), Beauford ( Helen), Glynn(Lee), all of Mobile, AL, Weda Pork of Park Forest, IL, Thelma Sledge of Philadelphia, PA, Delois (Hosea) of Sweetwater, AL, Lennice Hudson and Ella (Les) Valrie of Birmingham, AL., and Grady Blackmon Jr. of Monticello; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, friends and other relatives. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ora Blackmon and Debbie Blackmon and her father, Grady Blackmon.
Visitation will take place on Friday July 19, 2013 from 7 - 9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St. Monticello. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 20 at the First Baptist Church of Monticello, 29 Liberty St. Monticello, NY. at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd. Liberty, NY.
