Doris Ruggiero of Liberty passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Care Center at Sunset Lake. She was 97.
She was the daughter of the late Charles A. Herron and Fannie L Morton, born on July 5, 1927, in Woodbourne, NY.
Doris was a hard-working woman; she worked until she was 82 years old. She started working for NY Telephone where she stayed for many years. She later went to work for Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility. When she finally retired at 82, she volunteered her time at the thrift store in Liberty. She was dedicated to her family; she loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She always made her home a warm and welcoming place for all to come and visit. In her younger years she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling to Cape Cod, and baking; apple pie and baked mac and cheese were her specialties. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Donnie Smith and his wife Lottie, Mary Wallgren, and Michelle Siegel and her husband Robert, her grandchildren Jennifer, Kevin, Michael, Alyssa, Kevin, Wes, Justin, Devin, Kristen and Lindsie, 4 great grandchildren and a host of extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband John Ruggiero and her daughter Maureen Koval.
