Ellen Francine O'Brien, of Woodbourne, NY, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on February 2, 1947, and was the beloved widow of Paul Joseph O'Brien.

Ellen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a generous heart and a gift for making people feel welcome. Ellen was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether to someone she knew or a complete stranger. Her kindness, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor often brought laughter and joy to those around her.

Ellen dedicated many years to helping and caring for children. She worked at Rolling V/Gershowitz as a bus aide and also served as a school crossing guard for the NYPD 111th Precinct. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless children and families and was known for her caring and dependable nature.

Those who knew Ellen will remember her for her generosity, her willingness to help others, and her ability to make even strangers laugh. She had a way of brightening a room and making people feel as though they had known her forever. Her kindness and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who loved her.

Ellen is survived by her son, Michael O'Brien; her daughter-in-law, Erin O'Brien; her granddaughter, Chloe Rose O' Brien; and her brother Stanley Batelka, her brother-in-law Gerald and April McArthur.

A celebration of life for Ellen will be held in October.

She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will never be forgotten.
