Esther A. Balanovich of Parksville passed away on November 22, 2025, at Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 93.
Born on October 19, 1932, in Paupack, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles Gumbel and Esther Singer. Esther dedicated her entire life to caring for others. From raising her own family to the many individuals, she supported through ARC; she touched countless lives with her compassion. She worked for many years in what was once known as the Family Care Home, providing a safe and loving environment for those in her care.
In her free time, Esther loved to sing classic country western songs. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Known for her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor, she always enjoyed having a good time and bringing laughter into the room. When she was younger, she enjoyed hunting and had a fondness for listening to her old Edison music player, a pastime that brought her great comfort. Esther moved to the Parksville area in 1971, where she built a life centered around family, love, and service.
She is survived by her children: David Balanovich, Denise Labonte, Laura Dobell, and Lynn Bivins; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leon J. Balanovich Sr., and her son, Leon J. Balanovich Jr.
A graveside service will be held place at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery with her husband on December 8, at 1:00pm with Sharon Branning officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home. For further information, please call 845-292-7160.
