Obituary

Eva Perneszi passed away on May 3, 2026, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. She was 83 years old. Born in Budapest, Hungary, on May 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Leopold Schulczer and Friderika Mannheim.

Eva spent several years living in Austria before immigrating to the United States in 1959 in search of a better life and new opportunities. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Alexander Perneszi, and together they built a loving family and shared many cherished years together while raising their three sons.

Eva was a devoted and hardworking mother who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for ARC, where she compassionately cared for individuals each day, and also spent time working in real estate. No matter how busy life became, her family was always at the center of everything she did.

In her free time, Eva enjoyed crocheting and found joy in the simple pleasures of home and family. She was very active in her children's lives when they were younger, especially through the PTA and school activities. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and could often be found relaxing while watching her favorite soap operas, especially General Hospital.

Eva leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, James Perneszi and his wife Beth, Michael Perneszi and his wife Dawn, and Jeffrey Perneszi. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Timothy (Randy) Perneszi, Nicole (Dillon) Casper, Michael (Aliza Santos) Perneszi, and MeKayla Perneszi; her great-grandson, Austin Perneszi; and her nieces and nephew, Robert Mandel, Linda Weaver, and her daughter Olivia Green.
