Freddie Dents Jr. of Liberty passed on August 25, 2024, at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility. He was 100.
He was the son of the late Freddie Dents Sr. and Leola Wallace, born on February 6, 1924, in Port Allen, LA.
Freddie proudly served our county in the United States Army during both World War II and the Korean War. He lived in South Carolina for many years growing up. Throughout his life he worked at various places doing many different things. He was a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic. He started working as a mechanic in the Army and continued when he was discharged. His grandson followed in his footsteps with being a mechanic in the army as well. In 2019 he moved to Hurleyville with his son William. He will be deeply missed by his family, especially his smiles and jokes, that made them all laugh every day.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son William Diaz and his wife Jennifer, four grandchildren, Anthony, Zachary, Jasmine, Tamara, and a host of extended family and friends.
There will be a graveside service to honor Freddie at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00am. With full military honors.
