Liberty formerly of Kauneonga Lake, NY

Gerald Leigh "Jerry" Rhyne, 90, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was the son of the late Robert R. and Eva Fairweather Rhyne and was born on May 26, 1924 in Kauneonga Lake, NY.

Jerry was a self-employed contractor in Kauneonga Lake, NY. He had also been employed by Asphalt Distributors and JML Quarries in Masten Lake, NY. He was very active in community affairs. He was Past Chief of Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept; member of Bethel Lions Club and Monticello Kiwanis Club; was a member of Evergreen Cemetery Board; a former Highway Superintendent for the Town of Bethel; was a member of the Bethel Grievance Review Board; a former School Board member for Monticello Central Schools; a former Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Liberty Diner Coffee Club.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Janet LeRoy of Liberty and her daughter Jude Ingato, also of Liberty; sons, Kevin Rhyne of Bethel and Jed Rhyne and his wife Sherri of Mongaup Valley; daughter Karan Galloway and her husband Patrick of Liberty; a sister Leona Lilley of Kauneonga Lake; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Sherota, Alyson Cogswell, Jared Rhyne, Jesse Rhyne, Larry McAllister, Robert Duncan and Cheryl Duncan and six great-grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his wife, June Rhyne; brother, Robert Rhyne; son, Lloyd Rhyne and grandson, Christopher Galloway.

A Celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Friday October 3, 2014 from 4 - 8 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Kaunoenga Lake Fire Dept. will hold services at 7 PM at the funeral home.
