Grace Rogers Lagarenne

Tyler Hill, PA formerly of Monticello, NY

Grace Rogers Lagarenne, a longtime resident of Monticello, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 10, 2013 at the home of her son in Tyler Hill, PA. She was 93. The daughter of John H. and Anna Crispell Rogers, she was born on July 25, 1920 in Harris, NY.

Grace graduated from Monticello High School in 1937 and Delhi College in 1941. She married Lawrence E. Lagarenne( 1921 - 2004) on December 19, 1943. Grace worked for the NY Telephone in Monticello, the 4-H Club in Liberty and Vincent J. Smith in Johnson City, NY. She was proud to a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

"Mom was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and was an accomplished knitter. She was a wonderful mother, a sweet and gentle person and had an absolutely wicked sense of humor. She loved a great joke and brought smiles to everyone's faces."

Survivors include her children, Edward J. Lagarenne and his wife Linda and their children of Tyler Hill, PA and Cecile Lagarenne Higgins and her husband Jim Higgins of Richardson, TX; sister, Genevieve Stine and husband Raymond; brother, John Rogers and his wife Doris; sister-in-law Ethel Hagquist and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice Meola ( 1922 - 2012).

Memorial funeral services will be held on Friday January 17, 2014 at 2 PM at Monticello United Methodist Church, Broadway, Monticello, NY.
