Henrietta Driever, of Liberty, died Thursday January 28, 2016. She was 94 years old.
Henrietta was one of the last of a bygone era. Born before the age of antibiotics, she survived several childhood illnesses that would have considerably shortened the lives of most people and yet she went on to become the longest living member of her family. Henrietta was an accomplished seamstress. She made all of her own clothing. She was also an avid gardener, and possessed many homesteading skills. But she was first and foremost a lover of cats. Her cats were a fixture at her home and she always did her best to ensure they were cared for and loved. She was a unique, remarkable woman and we will all miss her.
Henrietta is survived by her niece: Lynne; nephews William and Peter; seven grand nieces and nephews and three great grand nephews. Henrietta was predeceased by her brother William; her sister Mary; and one nephew, Robert. Henrietta was the widow of Joseph Padilla whose surviving family includes a daughter, Eleanor; a son, Joseph; and several grandchildren.
A visitation will be at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 12 to 2pm. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, February 2nd at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne, NY.
