Obituary

James L. Reynolds, a longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Residence in Newburgh. He was 85 years old.

Born on October 18, 1940, in South Fallsburg, New York, James was the son of the late Leonard and Mildred Reynolds. A proud veteran, James honorably served his country in the United States military.

Following his military service, James pursued a career in electronics, a field in which he excelled. Known by family, friends, and colleagues as an absolute wizard with electronics, he worked for many years at Channel Master in Ellenville before establishing his own business, Reynolds Development Lab.

James enjoyed spending his free time watching local dirt track races, traveling, and lending a helping hand whenever someone was in need. He possessed a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a warm, loving personality that made him a friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and ability to make others smile will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his beloved son, Dean Reynolds; his niece and nephews, Heidi, Chris, Peggy, Leonard, Eric and Matthew; and his brother-in-law, Ron Geiger.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Geiger and Janet Mercilliott, and by his brother-in-law, Bob Mercilliot.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery.
