Joan I. Collins, of Woodridge, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 19, 2025. She was 70. She was born on March 14, 1955, in Monticello, New York, to the late Raymond E. Collins and Anna Pirnos.

Deeply devoted to her community, she also served as Mayor of the Village of Woodridge, was a columnist for the Sullivan County Democrat, and was a past president and long-standing member of the Woodridge Kiwanis Club. Joan was also an active member of the Town of Fallsburg Parks Department.

Known for rescuing and caring for countless animals, she gave her heart generously to both people and pets alike. She loved cooking-especially for holiday gatherings-and was also known for her baking skills. With her sharp wit, sarcasm, and wonderful sense of humor, Joan brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. She was a devoted aunt to her nephews Jarred and Noah, who lovingly knew her as their "second mother."
Joan will be deeply missed by her brother George Collins and his wife Judy; her nephews Jarred and Noah; her devoted cousins Kathy and Jay Shapiro and their children Lauren and Jonathan; Wayne Pirnos; Marie Gill and her daughter Erin; Paul Pirnos; and Robert Leigh. She will also be remembered with love and gratitude by two special police officers and dear friends, John Calvello and Tommy Decker, for their extraordinary care, kindness, and support. Joan was predeceased by her brother Raymond Collins and her cousin John Pirnos.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, New York.
