Joe Heilman

Joe Franklin Heilman, a long-time resident of Sullivan County, died peacefully on January 10, 2026.

Joe was born on January 3, 1941, to the late Joseph Paul Heilman and Mary Louise Wise.

His beloved partner of 36 years, Bill Wallace, passed away a few years before. He was born in Frankfort, Kentucky and left there for California where he went to college with the intention of becoming a dancer. He soon changed his mind, moved to New York, went back to school, and became a nurse.

He is survived by his friend and sister-in-law, Marie Wallace, and his many friends. Joe was loved and admired by all of his friends and fellow workers. As a nurse, he devoted most of his career to seniors, both here and in New York City. He will be sorely missed.

As per his wishes, all funeral arrangements will be private.
