John "Jack" Foster, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born on August 24, 1936, in Port Jervis, New York, to the late Herbert and Iva Foster.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his time in the service, one of the duties he particularly enjoyed was driving the general of his company around in his Jeep, a responsibility he remembered fondly throughout the years. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years to the union as an Operating Engineer with Local 825. A true "can-do" guy and a jack of many trades, Jack was the kind of person who could always find something to fix, build, or tinker with. He was happiest when he was busy and was rarely one to sit still.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling to Florida to enjoy the sunshine, cheering on the New York Yankees, and watching NASCAR. Above all, he cherished his family, and those who knew him will remember him for his hardworking nature, his willingness to lend a hand, and his constant curiosity and determination to keep moving forward.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marjory Foster; his daughters, April Siegel and her husband, Joseph; Joy Goode and her husband, Karl; and Faith Anne Foster; his grandchildren, Hunter Siegel, Ryan Goode, Karlee Goode, and Chad Foster; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Leah Rose.

He is also survived by his siblings, Charlie Foster and his wife, Lee; Linda Blais and her husband, Robert; Kenny Foster and his wife, Norma; and Donald Foster and his wife, Fran; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Richardson and her husband, Gus; special friends, Richie and Betty Kuerner; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his siblings, Douglas Foster, Frances DeFazio, Evelyn LaPolt, and Arthur Foster.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY and a Firematic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial and military honors to follow at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery.
