John Scott Gerow, a lifelong Sullivan County resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 88. The son of the late Walter and Easter Gerow, he was born on July 24, 1927. John was a self-employed contractor and a former member of Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Dept.
He is survived by three sons, Brian Gerow and Kenneth (Lisa) Gerow, both of Smallwood, NY and John Gerow Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL; daughter, Dorothy Keesler Pavlick (Gary) of Ballston Spa, NY; brothers, Carl Gerow of Harris, NY and Frank Gerow of Black Lake, NY; a sister, Thelma of Texas; sisters-in-law, Dolores Blake and Lilly Gerow; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Gerow in 2014.
Memorial graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Monday June 27, 2016 at 1 PM at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery where John will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Doris. Rev. David Coon will officiate.
