John J. Mansfield Jr., aged 79, passed away on October 30, 2024, in Middletown, NY. Born on January 3, 1945, in Carlsbad, NM, he later served in the Army from 1965 to 1968, which shaped a significant part of his life.
John was a skilled machinist by profession, a career that demonstrated his meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities. Beyond his professional life, he was a man who relished the company of others, particularly over good food and engaging storytelling. His tales from various life experiences brought laughter and joy to many gatherings.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his children John Mansfield Sr., Jason Mansfield Sr., and Lorraine Mansfield, along with their mother, Joanne Mansfield. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Anna Mansfield (Robert Comfort), Jennifer Mansfield-Pack, Jason Mansfield Jr., Julie Mansfield, John Mansfield Jr., and Davon Pack, as well as his great-grandchildren Alexis Hogencamp, Savannah Mansfield-Kushner, and Audrianna Mansfield-Kushner. John was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and John "Jack" Mansfield Sr.
A service to honor John's life will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. Interment will follow at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd, Liberty, NY 12754 with full military honors.
