Lawrence Winfield Whipple Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 26, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on December 13, 1946, in Liberty, NY, to Lawrence Winfield Whipple Sr. and Helen Frances Whipple (née Porter).
Larry, as he was known to family and friends, lived a life full of love, hard work, and dedication to his family. He married his cherished wife, Pauline Frances Whipple (née Saunders), on January 9, 1970. Together, they shared 54 years of love and companionship.
Larry proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968, honorably contributing to his country during his service. After returning home, he continued to build a life centered around his family and work.
A devoted father to Patricia (Michael) Whipple-Beiling, Linda Kalman, and Lawrence Whipple III (Jen)and his niece Judy Koch whom he loved as his own. Larry's legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Larry’s grandchildren, Tiffany (Steven) Kahn, Jessica Conklin, Cortney (Parker) Conklin, Sierra Whipple, Alicia (Bobby) Kalman, Marissa (Thomas) Kalman, and Lawrence Whipple IV, along with his step-grandchildren Brandon, Justin, Grace, Heather, Michael, and Nick, were all deeply loved by him.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Isabelle, Abigail, Mason, Arria, Wesley, Kahlia, and Karter. The entire Whipple and Saunders family will forever miss their “Uncle Larry” who always met all with a strong smile.
He was predeceased by his daughter Janet Whipple, his granddaughter, Amanda Whipple and his siblings, Albert and Glen Whipple.
Larry worked as a carpenter and produce manager, dedicating many years of service to Bowers Construction and Great American. His work ethic, skill, and commitment to his craft left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty, NY, at 11am.
