Lorraine Comfort, a lifetime Liberty resident, passed away at her home on Tuesday November 10, 2015 after an extended illness. She was 81 years of age. The daughter of the late Percy and Mabel Wilfert Cross, she was born on October 30, 1934 in Liberty.
Lorraine was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty and was a former kindergarten aide at Liberty Elementary School.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Comfort at home; three sons, Richard Comfort and wife Jeanne of Coral Springs, FL, Ron Comfort and wife Rosie of Woodbourne, NY and Brian Comfort of FT. Pierce, FL; three brothers, Raymond Cross of Ft. Pierce, FL, Robert Cross and wife Darlene of Castleton and Russell Cross and wife Alma of Garner, NC; two sisters, Enid Roosa of Liberty and Irene Kurpil of Ft. Pierce, FL and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Christopher, Dylan, Nicole, Rebecca and Julie. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Glenn Stephen Cross and Norman Cross; a sister, Janice Most and a half-brother, Ronnie Edwards.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 12:30 PM until 2 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM at the funeral home. Roberta Rehwaldt will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in the VanKeuren Cemetery in Swan Lake, NY.
