Louise Clairmont

July 23, 1925 — September 23, 2025

Louise Stratton Clairmont passed away quietly with family at her side, on Tuesday morning, September 23, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was born on July 23, 1925 to the late Marian White Putnam and Stanley Oscar Stratton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert L Clairmont.

While Louise was born near her grandparents in Potsdam NY, she spent the remainder of her life as a resident of South Fallsburg and was recently recognized by the Town of Fallsburg, for her 100th birthday and contributions to the community. The original family farm, which was started in the early 1800's, sat atop Stratton Hill. Her first job was working in the Fallsburg Town Hall. She later became a banker, initially working at Fallsburg National Bank, then numerous other larger banks until her retirement to care for her husband.

Louise was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in South Fallsburg. Over the years she served on the Altar Guild and as Treasurer. She was also a regular volunteer, well into her 90's, in the Food Pantry that was sponsored by the church. She was a regular attendee at Liberty Garden Club events. In retirement, Louise taught herself to play golf, bridge and mahjong.

Survivors include one son Roger L Clairmont and his husband Mark Morris of Bainbridge Island, WA; her daughter-in-law Julie Clairmont, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two

grandchildren, Jeffrey Clairmont and his wife, Tracey, of Maitland, FL; Ann Clairmont and her husband Chris Murphy of Atlanta, GA; and three nieces, Linda and Greg Goldstein, Cynthia and Charles Johnston, Debra Briggs and Tom Morse; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Reina, Connor and Fischer. She was preceded in death by her son Russell L Clairmont, her sister Ruth Holmes and her brother Arnold Stratton.
