Luis Rodriguez was born on February 23, 1960, at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York. In 1997, he became a cherished member of the New Hope Community, where he was supported and cared for throughout the remainder of his life.
Over the years, Luis lived in several residences within New Hope, including 204 Michael’s Court until 2002, followed by 205 Michael’s Court, and later 101 Dee’s Drive in 2005. In 2009, he moved to the David Schreiber Residence at 1088 State Route 52, and in 2013, he settled into the Schwartzman Residence at 307 Stupell Circle, where he remained until his passing.
Though Luis did not have known family contact for much of his life, he was deeply loved and supported by those at New Hope Community, who served as his guardian and extended family.
Luis was a joyful and spirited person who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved eating spaghetti and junk food, drinking soda, going out to the movies, bowling, and watching sports. His warmth, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for his favorite activities brought joy to those around him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY.
He will be remembered with love and missed by all who knew him.
