Obituary

Lynn F. Osterhout, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, New York, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. She was 68 years old.

Born on September 19, 1957, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to the late Marian A. (Davis)Probst and later legally adopted by the late W. Herman Probst, Lynn dedicated her life to her family and community.

Lynn was the devoted wife of the late Thomas V. Osterhout. She was the loving mother of three children: her oldest daughter, Jenifer (Osterhout)Edwards and her husband, Joseph; her youngest son, Andrew Osterhout and his wife, Jessica; and her late son, Benjamin Osterhout. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in her grandchildren, Sebastian Oles, Rayne Edwards, Thomas Osterhout, James Osterhout, and bonus grandchildren, Blake and Lucas, all of whom brought her endless joy.

Lynn especially cherished attending dirt track races with her husband and family, and she had a lifelong love of Ford Mustangs.

For many years, Lynn worked as a teacher's aide at Tri-Valley Central School, where she touched the lives of countless students with her kindness, patience, and warm encouragement. Her nurturing spirit and gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered as a strong-willed and resolute woman who always extended an open door and a warm meal to family, friends, and even the friends of her children.

A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Lynn remained deeply connected to the community and the Catskills region she loved. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of everyday life and in the shared moments and adventures with those closest to her.

In addition to her children, Jenifer and Andrew, and her grandchildren, Lynn is survived by many loving relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas V. Osterhout; her son, Ben Osterhout; and her parents, Marian (Davis)Probst and Herman Probst.
