Marguerite McCabe

October 22, 1945 — December 2, 2025

Marguerite "Peggy" McCabe, of Livingston Manor, passed away on December 2, 2025, at Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 80.

Peggy was born on October 22, 1945, in Manhattan, New York, the daughter of the late James Colbert and Mary Peelman. She was raised in the Bronx before relocating to Livingston Manor in 1980, a community she grew to love and serve for many years.

Peggy dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked for Sullivan County Public Health as a Home Health Aide, at Catskill Regional Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and at Sullivan County ARC with the Rose Valley Day Program. After retiring, she continued to serve her community by working at the Roscoe, Livingston Manor, and Liberty Central School Districts as a teacher's aide and lunchroom monitor.

In her spare time, Peggy could often be found tending to her garden or sitting at the picnic table watching and feeding the birds she adored. She was outspoken, practical, and a true straight shooter. Peggy cherished spending time with her family and being fully present during their visits. Her home was always a welcoming place for conversation, a warm smile, and a cup of coffee.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie (Jimmy) Hanratty, and Millie (Doug) Winrow; her grandchildren Laura (John) Hanratty, Natalie Winrow, and Cole Winrow; and her great-grandson Miles Nolen-Hanratty. She is predeceased by the love of her life, Clyde McCabe.
