Maria B. Popadiuk, a longtime resident of Liberty, NY, passed away on Sunday October 6, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. She was 68.
Maria was born on April 24, 1945 in Austria and was the daughter of the late Gregor and Paraskevia Shypka Popadiuk. Maria was a retired teacher for the Liberty Central School District and she was a member of the Sullivan County Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kerhonkson, NY.
She is survived by her brother, Roman Popadiuk and his wife Judith of College Park, MD; her sister, Anna Baron and her husband John of Liberty, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday October 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY.
Maria's funeral mass will be held on Wednesday October 9, 2013 at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 211 Foordmore Rd. Kerhonkson, NY. Burial will follow the mass at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Hamptonburgh, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Maria B. Popadiuk Scholarship at the George Bush School at Texas A&M University and mailed to George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, Texas A&M University, 1145 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843.
