Marian
Conklin
Feb 9, 1959 — Jun 2, 2026
On June 2nd, 2026, a higher power called Marian Jahrling Conkin and gave her wings to become a guardian angel to those left behind. She is now at peace, something she didn't get while here. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, but mostly a mother who put every one of her children before her.
Marian was born in New Jersey and moved to Wurtsboro when she was little. She graduated from Monticello High School. She didn't always have an easy life, but she was a fighter. On Dec. of 1981, I met this wonderful person. Right away we had the same weird humor and that's when she became my sister from another mister. We took road trips to see her parents, following GPS and still getting lost. I was there for her last 3 babies being born. Her heartache was my heartache, her pain was mine. We had a wonderful, scary connection.
Marian moved to North Carolina 7 yrs ago. In 2023, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She fought. She got sick, she didn't care, but kept fighting, being able to ring the bell for beating it.
She was proud to have belonged to Bloomingburg Fire Department as well as getting her certification as an EMT and riding with Jeffersonville Ambulance and Cuddabackville FD.
We were supposed to grow old and chase the aides around the nursing home. But a higher power saw her fight to live was gone, and even though we didn't want her to go, she is now at peace, no more hurt.
Marian is predeceased by her parents Arthur & Margaretta, brother Arthur (Art), sister Eileen and son Gregory Thomas Marsh, and great-grandson Waylon.
She is survived by her 3 children, Christina - Heather and Donald Joseph DeRosa, and her grandchildren: (Chrissy) Jarrett, Jeremy, Jimbo, and Riley, (Toms) Brendon, Kyle, Thomas, James, Destiny, Dakoda and Alexis; (Donald's) Tyler, Anna, Logan and Emilee.
Her brothers Rick, Bobby, John, Michael, and Eddie, and her sisters Margaretta and Linda.
Nieces & nephews: Patti, Julie, Daniel, Sara, Pete & Jenn, Damien, Shana, Summer, Lucas, Cathy, Elizabeth, Christopher, Bobby, Brian, Zachary, Shannon, Maryellen, Michael, Dominic, Amelia, Cameron and Kaitlyn. As well as 8 great-grandchildren.
Now you can truly say, "I have my eye on you."
In lieu of flowers, please plant lilacs or other purple flowers in her honor.
