Marilyn Brizel, of Fallsburg passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, just a week shy of her 87th birthday.

Born on December 15, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Eli and Ida Elovitz.

She was a graduate of Malden High School and earned an Associate's Degree in secretarial science from Mary Brooks College. Marilyn was a dedicated and talented professional who made a lasting mark on the hospitality industry. Throughout her career, she held prominent roles as reservations manager the Raleigh Hotel, Kutsher’s Hotel, Laurel's Hotel, the Flagler Hotel, New Roxy, and the Olympic Hotel as well as other notable Catskill resorts. In these positions, she was responsible for managing conventions and sales, a testament to her exceptional organizational skills and commitment to excellence.

Marilyn was known for her warm and caring nature, whether she was taking care of her cats or welcoming friends into her home. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and had a passion for maintaining her property. Always impeccably dressed and fashionable, she was a gracious hostess.

When she was younger, she served as the second president of the Benjamin Cosor Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, past president of the Town of Fallsburg Hadassah, and past president of the Town of Fallsburg B’nai B’rith.

Marilyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Brizel, and his wife, Dr. Lamara Brizel of Edgewater, New Jersey; a granddaughter Ciline Brizel of Edgewater, New Jersey. She survived by a first cousin, Cynthia Cohen of Delray Beach, Florida and several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her husband Milton Brizel, and her brother Fred Elliot.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12:00pm, at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY, with Rabbi Joseph Kolakowski officiating.
