Martin Clement Kounine, of Livingston Manor, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on December 31, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Samuel Kounine and Rose Koreman.

Marty proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967.

Marty was a laid-back, easygoing, and genuinely friendly man who was always fun to be around. He had a wonderful ability to connect with people and was truly a people person. His warm personality, good humor, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew him.

For many years, he was a proud member of the NRA and worked as an instructor, eventually achieving a lifetime membership. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of several hunting and gun clubs, including the Lost Mountain Hunting Club and the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club. He especially enjoyed trap shooting and sharing his passion for the outdoors with others.

Marty also had a lifelong love of automobiles. He and his wife, Karen, enjoyed buying and collecting antique cars and traveling to car shows together. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America Catskill Region Chapter, where he was able to share his enthusiasm for classic automobiles with fellow enthusiasts.

Always up for an adventure, once he traveled to the Everglades to hunt for pythons-a memorable experience that he thoroughly enjoyed.

Above all, he treasured his family, friends, and the many people he met throughout his life. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Karen Kounine; his children, Dana Kounine, Dr. Melissa Kounine, and Christian Kounine. He was predeceased by his sister, Mona.

Marty will be remembered for his easygoing nature, friendly smile, adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, passion for cars, and, most of all, the joy he brought to the people around him.
