Matthew Andrew Bridge, Jr., passed away on July 6, 2026, at the age of 21. He was born on August 19, 2004, and throughout his life touched the hearts of those who knew him with his kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for his family.
Matthew's family lovingly describes him as a gentle giant. He loved his family fiercely and was known for being honest, dependable, and always willing to do whatever he could for the people he loved. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply his quiet presence, Matthew was always there.
Blessed with a wonderful imagination, Matthew found joy in creating and expressing himself. He had a lifelong passion for music that was evident to everyone who knew him. His taste spanned countless genres, and he took pride in his remarkable knowledge of music. Family and friends knew there was little chance of beating him when it came to music trivia, and he delighted in sharing his favorite songs and discovering new artists.
Matthew also enjoyed working with his hands and had a remarkable talent for solving intricate problems. He found great satisfaction in repairing antique grandfather clocks, a hobby that reflected his patience and attention to detail. He loved building elaborate creations with Legos, bringing his imagination to life one piece at a time, and he also enjoyed locksmithing, appreciating the attention and craftsmanship it required. In quiet moments, Matthew found joy in the art of origami, carefully Transforming simple sheets of paper into intricate creations. These hobbies showcased both his creativity and his naturally curious mind.
Above all, Matthew treasured the time he spent with those closest to him. His gentle spirit, loyal heart, and genuine compassion will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Matthew and Richielynn Bridge; his siblings, Katelynn Bridge, Timothy Schrader and his partner, Brandy Elliot, and Austin Schrader; his beloved niece and nephew, Vaylyn Schrader and Daxton J. Schrader; and many extended family members.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Matthew's love, kindness, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Matthew's life during visitation on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. A funeral service honoring Matthew's life will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
