Michael M. Brooks

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Brooks, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, who left us on March 30, 2025, at the age of 65.

Born on December 22, Michael was a longtime resident of Grahamsville, where he made a lasting impact on the community through his tireless efforts in public service. He served with distinction for twelve years as a member of the school board, including four years as president. His commitment to the education of the community's children and the growth of local schools was unwavering. Michael also contributed to the town in many other ways, serving on the planning board and the town council, and for four years, he was the vice chair of the county legislature. His leadership, integrity, and vision shaped much of the local government during his tenure.

Beyond his public service, Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved his Oakland A’s and LA Rams. He enjoyed coaching little league and his step-daughter’s softball team. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Brooks, who stood by his side throughout his life and his many years of service. He is also survived by his parents, Charlotte and Clayton Brooks; his sisters, Faith Osterhout and Brenda Devore; his brother, David Brooks; his son, Cylus Brooks-Ambrosi; his step-daughter, Teresa Burger; and many other relatives who will forever cherish his memory.

Michael's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of commitment to the community, his family, and his principles will live on. He was a man of action, deeply committed to making the world around him a better place for all. He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the many lives he touched through his years of service and love.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 4 to 6, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Michael's extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sundown Methodist Church.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
