Nelson J. McArthur, 69, of Wurtsboro, NY, passed away on Tuesday July 15, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Clifford and Enna Conklin McArthur and was born on January 6, 1945 in Stamford, NY.
Nelson retired from Miller Automatic in Monticello, where he was a vending machine mechanic. He was the former President of Sullivan County Bowling Assn and a member of Fox Mountain Skeet Club and Hoos Truck Co. - Livingston Manor Fire Dept.
He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Terri McArthur at home; daughter, Sara McArthur of Wurtsboro; brothers, Alan McArthur and his wife Nancy and Lynn McArthur and his wife Edith, all of Livingston Manor; sisters, Linda Miller and husband Terry of DeBruce, NY, Gail Kirschner and husband John of Liberty, Joyce McArthur, Doreen Bertholf and husband Peter and Marion Salonich and husband Raymond, all of Livingston Manor, NY; a special cousin Vernon Finkle of South Fallsburg and several nieces and nephews. He Is also survived by his ever faithful companions, Toodles and Copper.
Visiting hours are on Sunday July 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St. Monticello. Livingston Manor Fire Dept. services will be at 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 21 at 11 AM at Ramsay's Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Polin officiating. Burial will follow at Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtboro, NY.
