Obituary

Norman C. Cross Sr.

Liberty, NY

Norman C. Cross Sr., 86, left this earth on Wednesday December 17, 2014. He was the son of the late Percy and Mabel Wilfert Cross and was born on July 13, 1928 on Hurleyville, NY. He was married to the late Frances C. Duc Cross who predeceased him in October 1990.

Norm was a dedicated farmer all his life - even putting the hay in on the farm this summer. He also built the former Beachcomber and served many ice cream cones through the years. He was a foster grandparent at the Liberty Elementary School where he met Alice Edwards, his companion for the last 18 years.

He is survived by his four children, Chris Klein (Carl), Cathy Spafford (Jack), Norman Cross Jr. and Glen Cross (Cathy), all of Liberty, NY; grandchildren, Amy Winters, Lyn and Shawn Klein, Phillip, Scott, Brian and Keith Mentnech, Nikki Wallace, Kevin, Courtney and Gary Cross and their families; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond, Robert and Russell Cross; sisters, Enid Roosa, Renee Kurpil and Lorraine Comfort. He was predeceased by sons, Gregory and Gary Cross; sister, Janice Most and grandson, Adam Cross.

Through his hard work he set a positive example for his children and instilled in them positive values and work ethics. He will be remembered by family and friends as a kind, strong, hardworking man, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Norm wishes to be remembered for his life rather than his death.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, December 22 from 6 - 8 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty. Funeral services will be at 7 PM with Paul Minton officiating.
