Oliver Brooks Sr., of Livingston Manor, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016, at the age of 75.
He was born February 19, 1941 in Queens, NY to the late David and Thurstine Brooks
Oliver worked as a system's analysis with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank where he retired after twenty-five years. After retirement, he rejoined the workforce, taking on various local positions, which he viewed as a ministry, always in service to others. His true passion, however, was for the great outdoors. Oliver spent much of his time hunting big game, fishing, and training English Coon Hounds. Oliver's love of God led him to a life of altruism, volunteering with Catholic Charities, and spending time with his much beloved church community. He was a great man that will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Geneva Brooks; his children Ty Satcher-Walker (Harold), Olivia Brooks-Berlinski (Jon), Oliver Brooks Jr. (Michelle), and Jonathan Brooks; his grandchildren: Milan and Carrington Satcher, Sierra and Zaire Brooks, Olivia Brooks-Berlinski, Tierra, Selena, Christian and Rebecca Brooks; and his siblings Rosemarie Johnston (William), Sherrod Brooks, Thurstine Williams (Andrew) and Otis Brooks. He joins his parents, Thurstine and David, and brothers, Harold, Wesley, and David Brooks Jr. in Heaven.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30pm on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Vine & Branch Free Methodist Church, 2535 State Route 52, Liberty, NY 12754. A funeral service will follow visitation at the church. Pastor Ed Sostak will be officiating. A burial will follow services at Liberty Cemetery.
