Pyong Cho was born on February 15, 1974, in his parents’ home in Seoul, South Korea. At the age of 16, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1990. He had a brother and a sister.
On July 5, 1995, Pyong moved from his parents’ home in the Bronx to New Hope Community at 102 Dee’s Drive. He later transferred to several different residences within New Hope, including 411 Larry’s Way in 1998, 307 Stupell Circle in 2014, and 205 Michael’s Court in 2020. On August 8, 2024, he returned to 307 Stupell Circle, where he spent his final days. Pyong passed away on July 20, 2025.
Pyong was a vibrant and joyful person. He loved buying soda and anything Korean. Some of his favorite foods included vegetables, fish sticks, and rice. Pyong enjoyed singing and dancing—especially to the soundtrack from The Sound of Music. He found joy in simple pleasures like drawing, bowling, going to parks, and spending time outdoors on sunny days. He loved dance parties and trips to the theater, and he delighted in activities that allowed him to throw and catch objects.
Pyong’s warmth, energy, and bright spirit touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
