Ricardo Sanchez Bonet, Jr.

Ricardo Sanchez Bonet Jr. passed away on September 17, 2024, at the age of 78 in his private residence in Florida – two weeks shy of his 79th birthday. He was a father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and a dear friend. He was born to Ricardo Sanchez Soto and Leonor Bonet Guillet in Rincon PR and at a young age they came to NY. From a young age he chased his dreams and wasn’t afraid to experimented in different industries – he was an entrepreneur, but he really was a farm boy at heart, love to garden and raise chickens.

After living in NYC for his younger years he moved upstate where he remained until his retirement when he moved to Florida with his oldest son.

He was a proud man who remained true to his Puerto Rican heritage, never forgetting where he came from - Bistec y Arroz con Gandules was a staple in his kitchen and around the holidays, Coquíto and Piña Coladas were a must.

He battled with serious medical issues this year but showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and humor. Despite the pain, he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He is loved and will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his children, Marisol Sanchez-Sauer (58), Ricardo David Sanchez IV, Cristobal Joseph Sanchez (41) and caretaker and dear Friend Elite Taubner (60) and step-daughter Monica Milagros Gonzalez (47), grandchildren, David Anthony Espada (41), Jonathan Colby Sauer (35), Melinda Sanchez-Steingart (38), Ricardo Sanchez V (36), Christine Sanchez (33), Damita Abriana Sanchez (21), great grandchildren, Liam Scott Steingart (9), Ethan Walter Steingart (4), Aviana Lynne Steingart (2) and Bellalina Imoelayo Osisami (6).

Visiting is from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on October 2, 2024, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home at 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne NY 12788. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 with Father Ben Zirra. Interment will follow at Hurleyville Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY 12747.
