Robert Emerson Dubois

Robert “Bob” Emerson DuBois, 82, husband of the late Joanne Kelley Dubois, passed away January 20, 2025 in Lexington KY. Born in Monticello, NY on June 6, 1942, Robert was the son of the late Emerson DuBois and Lillian Ellsworth DuBois.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathon Paul.

Robert was a proud and caring man. He loved spending time with his sister, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His children told stories about how their father loved to pick on his sister, Nancy Brown. He was a friendly neighbor and when he was raising his children the neighborhood children found his home the best place to play. Whenever anyone in the neighborhood needed him, he was there to give advice and assist them. Robert served in the United States Army where he was a Drill Sergeant. Robert was dedicated to serving his community. He was a volunteer firefighter, was a volunteer with the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corps., and a 4-H leader for numerous years; he was a car mechanic and then went on to serve 21 years on the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department in New York. He earned a commendation during his time as a police officer for a water rescue. He also worked security and was a bodyguard for important figures. When he moved to Lawrenceburg he volunteered at the Anderson County Senior Center working with Meals on Wheels. Robert was never alone while at home. His loyal dog Max was always by his side and was his constant companion. Robert also enjoyed hobbies such as, racing stock cars, camping, scuba diving and working on cars.

Robert is survived by his three children, Cathy DuBois (Anthony), Janene DuBois (Rob), all of Pennsylvania, and Stephen E. DuBois (Sommer) of Lexington; one grandchild, Misty Sampson (Easton); 3 great grandchildren, Liam, Luca Robert, and KB “Nugget”; a sister, Nancy Brown of New York; two nephews Brendon Brown, Todd Brown (Monessa); and a great niece, Victoria Brown.

A graveside service will be held at 10am on Friday, May 23rd at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, New York. A celebration of Bob's life will follow at Tick Tocks on Terrace, Honesdale, PA.

In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions are suggested to the Anderson Humane Society or a Veteran Organization of your choice.
