Roseann Helms

Roseann Helms passed away in the morning on January 8, 2026. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her children. She was 89 years old.

Roseann was born in Newark, NJ, on November 23, 1936, to the late Thomas and Theresa Purcell.

She was their only child. Roseann married the love of her life, William Helms, on June 22, 1957, celebrating 68 years of marriage this past June.

She was the heart of the family with a big, boisterous personality and a laugh to match. All she ever wanted to be was a mother. And she was the best one, making growing up fun. And there was never anything that couldn't be fixed or celebrated with cake!

Roseann was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Helms, her parents, Thomas and Theresa Purcell and her beloved son, Robert "Bob" Helms.

She is survived by her son William Helms (Christina) of Woodbourne, NY, his daughter-in-law Diane Helms (Bob) of Tupper Lake, NY, his daughter Karen Valdivia of Peekskill, NY and his daughter Lori Hoffmann (Michael) of Patterson, NY. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Amanda Ybañez and her husband Joseph, Robert "Bobby" Helms, Matthew Hoffmann, Patrick Hoffmann, Noah Valdivia, Lauren Hoffmann and Joshua Valdivia. She is also survived by her only great-granddaughter, Isla Ybañez.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY. A graveside service and interment will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery.
