Obituary

Russell E. Pinkel, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Youngsville, New York on February 28, 2026.

He was born on October 7, 1946, in Franklin, New Jersey, to Edwin Pinkel and Genevieve (Storms) Pinkel. Russell graduated from Warwick High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force as a Flight Engineer Sergeant and served in the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Russell had a long career in tractor-trailer driving and transportation, a profession he carried out with pride. He was a dedicated and loving man who prioritized providing for his family.

He was married to and leaves behind his devoted wife Karen Elizabeth (Struble) Pinkel for over 50 years and spent his final months under her loving care. Russell was a vibrant personality that lifted the mood of all those around him. He enjoyed country and western music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Westhoff, and his nephews, Timothy McVeigh and Ronald Westhoff. Russell was predeceased by his sister, Terry McVeigh, and by his parents, Edwin and Genevieve Pinkel.

Russell leaves behind his children, Thomas Costanzo (Sharon), Cheryl Bulman (Brian), Jennifer Nichols (Timothy), JillIan Ruisi (Brian), Jodi Bair (Bryan), Justin Pinkel (Angela), and Kevin Pinkel.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Eric Costanzo (Thomas); Matthew Diaz, Jeanna Walsh, Michaela Bulman (Cheryl); Sean and Evan Nichols (Jennifer); Tyler and Katelyn Ruisi (Jillian); Emily and Avery Bair (Jodi); and Angelo, Vincenzo, and Therese Pinkel (Justin). He was blessed with five cherished great-grandchildren: Bradley and Bella-Rose Walsh (Jeanna); Hudson, Jacob, and Matthew Diaz (Matthew).

A Memorial Mass for Russell will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 22 Church Street, Livingston Manor, New York 12758. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church for visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
