Ruth Kilroy, age 79, of Callicoon, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2025. Born on March 10, 1946, in Callicoon she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Imogene Freidenstine.
She retired as an administrative clerk from Verizon in Poughkeepsie, NY, and was known for her dedication and attention to detail.
A lover of nature and the comforts of home, Ruth found happiness in gardening, reading, and traveling. One of her favorite places was Alaska, having ridden in the Iditarod start twice. She especially cherished time spent relaxing in her favorite chair with a good book. Her thoughtful nature and sense of humor made her a beloved presence to family and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Martin “Marty” Kilroy, with whom she shared many loving years. She is survived by her long time partner Thomas Snyder at home, her brother Harold Freidenstine(Constance) her nieces, E. Kay Holt and Jennifer Cuison(Valentino)and her nephew, Brian Freidenstine(Jessica) and many great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Ruth’s life will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 6th at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY. Pastor Peg VanSiclen will officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Fremont Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to Upper Delaware Ambulance Corp P.O. Box 258 Hankins New York 12741, Fremont Center Cemetery Association or a charity of one’s choice.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
