Samuel Otis Brown III was born January 1, 1951, to Samuel Brown Sr. and Alice Freeman Brown. Samuel accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior at a young age. He attended First Union Baptist Church, where he was active in Sunday School, Junior Choir, and Jr. Usher Board. He attended New York City Public School, graduating from Christopher Columbus High School in 1969. After graduating, Samuel started his career working on Wall Street Depository Trust Company (DTC), US securities. He married his childhood Sweetheart, Gwendolyn Jones. Samuel later joined the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he continued to serve the Lord, becoming an Ordained Minister through the Church of God in Christ under Bishop Buchanan. After completing his military service, Samuel continued serving the Lord at First Union Baptist Church, where he was involved in Street Ministry, Choir, Nursing Home Ministry, and Prison Ministry called Genesis One. Samuel was the leader of the Prison Ministry, which ministered at Eastern Correctional Facility, Green Haven Correctional Facility. Samuel later joined Christ Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, where he continued leadership of Genesis One.

Samuel Otis Brown III loved being around his grandchildren. They were the center of his life. They brought him much joy and happiness. During his retirement period, he joined and became excited about the bus team of Cramden Coach. He also sought out and began attending the Fallsburg First Church of God.

Samuel Otis Brown III is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gwendolyn, His children Samuel, RaShawn (Manjit), Keenya (David), Joseph; his grandchildren, Devon James, Ayden, Anyah, Jordan; His brother, Gordon (Donna); His sister, Cynthia (Rex Sr.); 5 nephews, Steven, Malik Brown, Curtis, Malik Robinson, Rex Jr; 2 nieces, Kia, Natasha and a whole host of grandnieces, grandnephews, bonus grandchildren, cousins and lifelong friends.
