Sandra Ann Walter-a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-passed away peacefully, on September 10, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Born on October 15, 1965, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lloyd Schreiner and Alice Lines.

Sandi spent much of her life caring for others as a Registered Nurse, a role that fit her perfectly. Her compassion was effortless, her dedication unwavering. She had a natural gift for making people feel safe, seen, and cared for-whether they were patients, family, or friends. Putting others first wasn't something she tried to do; it was simply who she was.

A true free spirit, Sandi lived life with strength, independence, and a spark of adventure that made her unforgettable. She was always on the move-an early riser who rarely sat still and embraced each day with purpose. Her humor, quick wit, and warm heart could brighten any room she walked into.

Sandi was endlessly creative and talented. She loved running, arts and crafts, and had a knack for making beautiful things with her hands. In her younger years, she even crafted her own wedding dress-just one example of her resourcefulness and creativity. She played the trumpet, loved motorcycles, and was never happier than when she was out on the open road, especially on her Harley-Davidson.

She had a mechanical mind and a fearless curiosity. If something broke, she'd take it apart, figure it out, and fix it-whether it was a household item or the brakes on her own car. Her determination and problem‑solving skills were just another reflection of the strong, capable woman she was.

Travel was one of her greatest joys. She loved camping and family trips to the beach, with her favorite destination being Indian River Inlet, Delaware. Later in life, trips to Alaska and Italy stood out as some of her favorites. In 2012, she and her devoted husband, Kyle, moved to Taylorsville, North Carolina where Sandi enjoyed the warm weather and southern hospitality of the local area. She cherished the new friends she made and enjoyed experiencing the deep-rooted community culture and traditions of Taylorsville.

Above all, Sandi loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her heart, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She also adored her pets-especially her dogs and guinea pigs-who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life.

Sandi leaves behind her loving husband, Kyle Walter; her daughters Jessica Kaufman (Garett), Jennifer Pelayes, Alexis Walter, and Julianna Walter; her cherished grandchildren Juan Jay Journet, Jayden Journet, Sarah Kaufman, Orion Kaufman, Tyler Pelayes, and Ashlyn Pelayes; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

She will be remembered for her independent spirit, adventurous soul, incredible strength, sharp humor, and the boundless love she gave so freely. Sandi lived life on her own terms, never stopped moving forward, and touched countless lives along the way. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 1-4:00pm. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 4:00pm.
