Shannelle Metise Cole-McKenny of South Fallsburg, New York, was born on January 4, 1983, to Rochelle McKenny and Jimmy Cole. She departed this life on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Shannelle was a proud graduate of Fallsburg Central High School and earned her Associate's Degree from Sullivan County Community College. A lifelong learner, she was fascinated by the legal system and aspired to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Her true passion, however, was serving others.

For many years, Shannelle worked as a Direct Support Professional at the former SullivanArc, where she supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also cared for many people in the community as a Home Health Aide. Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond her career. Shannelle always put people first, generously giving of herself even when she had little to spare. She often provided food or home-cooked meals to those in need and regularly checked on friends, neighbors, and loved ones with a phone call or visit. She had a special place in her heart for children and frequently kept extra school supplies and snacks on hand so she could brighten a child's day.

To know Shannelle was to love her. She was known for speaking her mind, her outgoing personality, her sense of humor, and her love of bringing people together. Having lost both of her parents at a young age, she deeply valued family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with loved ones. Holidays held a special place in her heart because they brought family together to create lasting memories.

Shannelle was also a devoted and loyal friend. She maintained the same close circle of friends from Head Start and elementary school throughout her life, friendships that became family. The overwhelming outpouring of love for Shannelle and her family during this difficult time is a true reflection of the strength and compassion of the Fallsburg community...FallsburgStrong.

Shannelle is survived by her daughter, Teyah McKenny; her brother, Brandon McKenny; her aunts and uncles, Belinda McKenny, Barbara McKenny, Horace McKenny (Joann), Nate McKenny (Carolyn), Regina Snead (Jules), and Khabier Yakub; her nephew, Camden McKenny; her cousins, Justin and Shaina McKenny, Colton McKenny, Zayd and Zhara Snead, Khaliah and Khawana Snead, and Rasul Thompson; her godparents, Wilbur Johnson, Joycalyn Jordan, and Eddie and Diann Clansy; and her special friends, Charles Hinton, Olivia McKenzie, Michael York, Shamieka Stewart, Shannon Horace-Castellanos, Marcus Clansy, Derrick Scott, Ben Luster, and Erin Wilson.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rochelle McKenny and Jimmy Cole; her maternal grandparents, Joyce and Horace McKenny; her paternal grandmother, Clarice Cole; and her uncle, Billy Weldon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon.
