Simone Mary Farran, age 37, of Middletown, NY, passed away on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Simone was born on April 27, 1988, in Harris, NY. She grew up in Neversink, graduated from Tri-Valley Secondary School, and eventually settled in Middletown with her dearest friend, Ben Chesser. Living with spina bifida, Simone faced tremendous challenges throughout her life with remarkable courage, humor, and spirit.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, known for her kind heart, sharp wit, and deep love for animals — especially her cherished dog, Cookie. Simone found joy in music, coffee, crafts, and game nights with friends, including Ben, Larry, Amy, and Eduardo. She had a special bond with her nephews, Leo and Remy, and treasured every moment spent with her family.
As a child, Simone loved music and learned to play piano under the guidance of Nancy Johnston. When her younger brother Patrick was born, she often and eagerly took on the role of second mom to him.
Simone is survived by her mother, Susan Carmichael; her father, Philippe Farran; her brothers, Sean Carmichael and Patrick Farran; her sister-in-law, Nadia Carmichael; her nephews, Leo and Remy Carmichael; her aunt and uncle, Patricia and Dion Lynch; her uncles, George and Peter Carmichael; her cousins, Catherine, Desirae, Dion Jr., and Thomas Lynch; her nieces, Dionne and Daniella Liles; Desirae’s partner, Daquan Liles; and her partner in life, Ben Chesser, and his family. She is remembered with love by many extended family members and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her devoted nurse, Betty Dolan, and her dear friend, Marguerite Dolan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garnet Health Medical Center, ArchCare, Caring Hearts, and her aides, Cari and Hema, for the compassion and care they provided to Simone in her final years.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 27, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, located at 396 NY-52, Woodbourne, NY.
